Okay just to help move things along I am now accepting Character submissions for 'The Siege of Sedalia' campaign.

I don't need much, just a name, and a very basic outline of your character(s), specifically a short history, a brief description of their personality, their faction/their standing within it, and their goals/objectives for the campaign (If applicable beyond the basic sack/save the city).

Name: Veiran Leids

Faction: The Kerft

Description: A rather hotblooded fellow, Veiran believes (perhaps rightly so) that his land produces the best marksmen the world over. To that effect, he vehemently refuses to believe otherwise, and is more than willing to enter into any contest of archery skill to prove so. He, unfortunately, has rather bad accuracy when shooting in conditions he has not experienced before.

The small assassination unit he leads, is less a show of prowess and power, and is often used merely for political purposes. Veiran greatly dislikes cloak and dagger politics, and could care less for the Prince's current goal of joining the combat to increase their country's political standing. He has nothing against them participating to fight the good fight, and show everyone else how superior Kreft archers are, but that not being the reason they are fighting has left a bad taste in his mouth.

Backstory: The Kerft live for the bow, they primarily hunt for their food, doing so becoming an integral part of their culture, and almost ritualistic in nature. Their military training forsakes all but the most basic skills in melee combat, in favor of training marksmanship, and the measure of a man is his skill with the longbow.

From an early age, Veiran was a failure at the bow, and thus a failure of a son. He could never hit where he intended, and was shunned and ostracized because of it. Fed up with his mistreatment, he began practicing in secret, but no matter how hard he tried, he could never land an arrow where he intended to. In a fit of rage, he allowed his emotions to overwhelm him, and gave himself to the depression of uselessness. "If it is impossible for me to hit the center of the target, I should just resign myself to my mediocrity." He focused on his last failed shot, the arrow still embedded in the target, let fly, and split it in twain.

Confused, he aimed for the spot again, and split another arrow. Five, six, seven, no matter how many he tried, they would all hit the exact same spot. He confronted his father, and challenged him to a contest of skill in archery. If Veiran lost, he would be disowned with no shame to his father, and if he won, he would be legitimized and finally be free of the torment of his inadequacy. When his father asked what the contest would be, Veiran merely replied "The first to split an arrow from fletching to tip."

They both fired their first shots, Veiran's father struck within the bulls-eye, and Veiran's shot went wide, hitting the wall behind the targets. All those that had gathered broke out in uproarious laughter at his expense but he remained calm. When they shot their second arrows, Veiran's father hit the bulls-eye again, but missed the other arrow by about an inch. Veiran had split his previous arrow down the center, despite it not being on the target. Silence reigned for a time, and then he did it again, and then again.

Eventually, his ability to always strike the same location twice became rather famous. So much so that he was eventually employed in the service of the prince himself. His unnatural accuracy (on the second shot) making him perfect for planned assassinations, and requiring him to learn much about tactics, strategy, and the human mind to properly utilize his unique ability, made him quite adept at leading his unit on missions where independence was a significant asset.

Name: Able Copperton

Faction: Defenders; Free Mages Guild

Description: Life was never kind to young Able, birthed with imperfect sight only half of which perceived the world as we did, he was orphaned at a young age, or simply abandoned for being born as he was, he isn't sure, he grew up a beggar in the streets, scrounging for scraps and whatever coin those around him would spare him.

Such was his life, until one day, as he counted his days alms, he discovered someone had slipped a note into his cup instead of money. Upon it was illustrated instructions that lead the inquisitive lad to a back alley den.

That night he introduced to the first family he would ever know, the Guild of Free Thought. It was they who taught him to master his gift, and they who clothed and fed him when none would before.

A Conclave raid abruptly ended that era in his life, Able himself only barely escaping in the confusion, thanks if only in par to the only form of magic he ever showed a knack for...

Illusion, rather, false images made manifest by distortions of light. Alone and a wanderer once more, Able was swift in deciding his new life's course. A lover of story and tale, he set out into the world a Bard by trade, not of song and music, but of spectacle and speech craft.

You see Able's life as a beggar had given him a unique perspective of people, and people were perhaps the thing he knew best in life. He might not be able to read books, but people were as plain as words to him.

He knew that simple sorcery was not what the public feared, not at least for the most part. No what most people feared were those who hid their gifts, those alleged hood and cloak mages, practicing guiltily behind locked door and secret room.

And so, in a great gamble, Able resolved to do the exact opposite of that approach. Enabled by the recent occupation of Atimar in northern Eadhaolin and Kurgoria, and their more tolerant views towards the open practice of magicians, Able adopted his illusionist talents in storycrafting that took an almost grandiose life of their own under his skilled narrations.

That said, despite the blessings of the then ruling powers that be it was still a very dangerous, but sometimes highly fruitful, profession. The common and petty biases of people did not change despite the 'enlightened' rulings of their would be leaders. More times then once Able had to tactfully lie his way out of a would be lynching.

A delicate tight rope to walk to be sure, but it was a life doing what he loved, and Able was content with that...

By then the Atimarian invasion was in full swing, penetrating deep into Eadhaolin territory, threatening their capitol, and besieging the Tyrvoldian river city Gondolia. The unrest and revolt consumed the conquered lands, any safety Able formerly found in the open swiftly turned to vulnerability, in short order all his job prospects abruptly dried up, and no reliably safe refuge could be found.

Life became harder still when the Legions were routed by the alliance, and their mainland colonies began collapsing beneath them.(TBC)
