A streamlined History...

I had a thought that most of the history of our site is a bit too...independent of everything else, which is too say it doesn't seem to take the whole of Ara`niel into account save for a very narrow portion of it. Which isn't necessarily a problem, but it does give a sort of...disjointed feel all things considered...

So here's what I'm purposing, we all get together and each of us write an encompassing chronological eras in the history of Ara`niel. From the beginning to the present...

We each pick an era we want to include, and then proceed to incorporate everything of note that happened in that era into that piece...after which we'll get together, and sort through the lore concerning that era, make sure we all give it the go ahead, and then move on down the line...

It might be redundant in some cases, but I believe it's necessary to fully organize our thoughts, and to get all our ideas full together in proper order. That order being, as far I as I can guess, and feel free to call me on this if I miss anything-

Eras' of Ara`niel:

1. Beginnings - Of Life, Death, and Demons
   
2. A War in Heaven - Of the Demon War, and the division of a House
   
3. The Dawn of Life - Of the Creation of Man and his first steps (Chaos)
   
4. The Golden Age - The age of magic from it's shaky beginnings to it's thunderous conclusion
   
5. The Great War Beginnings - From the end of the fall, to the rendering of nations to ash (MN)
   
6. The Great War Endings - The final stages of a self perpetuated conflict that ends only because there are not enough living left to fight it (MN)
   
7. From the Ashes - Post war era's and rebuildings (Crom)
   
8. Promises of Tomorrow - What the future holds...hope if you will...

I think that about covers it, at this point we'd all just need to pick an era we'd like to cover and go from there. I'm Partial to the The Great War Beginnings myself, but I'll let you guys decide for yourselves at this point, just say which era you'd like to cover, and I'll put your name besides it on the list above.

I have quite a bit already written (and/or conceptually thought out, most of it probably isn't posted yet) about The Dawn of Life era. I could likely take that. While I think this is a good idea, I don't think that anyone necessarily get's 'control' so to speak. Anyone can write or comment or possibly revoke things that others write in any given era, but certainly some people should focus on certain eras for the time being. It'd be nice to get some work done in these aspects, and it's something we sorely need.

Thanks for laying it out MN. Now if only I had money or somesuch to motivate people to write...

I agree with this post and I think it is simply the result of several people working to populate an entire world. I have tried to a limited extent to tie all of my lore together. Mortii became linked to Conclave lore, Orhal linked to Imperator which in turn linked to Eadhalion. I think for future reference we should try to keep that a pervading theme in mind. Not just the creation of lore but how it can tie into to everyone else currently operating on the stage. This in turn encourages collaboration between us because we will require other peoples inputs on linking our stuff to theirs.

Right. Khalizimoth needs a place to start from anyway, and I'm not really sure where to start that up (Though perhaps the area around Sciras might work). It's probably best to be lax of it, though, because something new might be made that works much better and we'll need a little retconning. Being lax on the retconning, I mean, as it seems very possible we'll want it to happen at some point.

I figure Khalizimoth will come in when we start unveiling campaigns for areas south of the spine.

Crom which era in History were you interested in covering?

Incidentally I'm assigning myself both parts of the Great War, if only because I've got most of it covered in my mind as it is.

I'd like From the Ashes. I like making recent history.

We need to start dragging the other people in here so they can help out.

To be honest the people who really actively critique and make stuff are you, chaos and I. Though Bronkor and BI do add stuff.

I was hoping Doom would be interested in taking care of the War in Haven section...if only because he's so crazy about demon stuff.
